Often I have found a game that I wish to collect is not available in physical form in the the USA. One solution I have found is to import games. In my previous article Japanese and Asian Physical Releases Fill the Gap I talked my preferred source PlayAsia.com. However, some games that I desired are only available from Europe, while Play Asia supplies some of these European titles I have often found better deals from Amazon.com.
While Amazon does carry a selection of Asian and European imports the prices can vary widely. For example I saw Syberia up to about $53 at one point and the day I write this it is down to $24.93. Also, you need to be sure you buy from reputable seller. You can review the prices and ratings of the seller in the amazon System. I prefer sellers with a high rating and if possible ships by Amazon as I get my free prime shipping if the title is already in a US warehouse. Often the top of the list prices will vary by pennies so it is best buy from a reputable seller then to risk your purchase to a lower rated seller.
WORLDEND SYNDROME $49.99
Syberia - $33.48
Syberia 2 - Gift
Syberia 3 $31.70
Syberia 1 & 2 $37.05
I own the four games on the top list aquired them all from Amzon and they have all been assigned Legacy Scores. However, I did not buy Syberia 2 as it was gift that a relative bought from my Amazon wish list. The wish list is another benefit of the Amazon system as I have received several of my switch games from relatives who purchased it for my B-day or Christmas.
Another tip for anyone interested in the Syberia series, the publisher also has a version with both the first games in one box the Amazon price is above, but I see that Play Asia has Syberia 1 & 2 for $27,99 price beat at the moment . So it is good to check multiple vendors.
While I know Syberia series is dirt cheap on the PC which I also own, I enjoyed playing the first two games on my switch way more then I did when I tried them on my PC. I am not sure what the difference was but it was something about the controls on the switch as I found my pro controller way simpler to use over the keyboard and mouse. I solved the first two games on my switch, as for the 3rd game I started it but I need to get used to the controls on the Switch. The other game I bought from Amazon was World End Syndrome. This game has a trail version in the eshop that contains the entire prologue of the story where you meet many of the people and see a few parts of the town. This prologue sets up the story and has an ending that is called the "BAD ENDING". After the bad ending that you can not ignore the game will let you pick up whwere you left off and allows you to avoid the"BAD ENDING". While it was a lot of fun I was discouraged that the saved games in the trial did not carry over to the physical version and I needed to start the game over from the start. I almost bought the digital version for $39.99 as the Physical copy was was $62.99 at the time on Play Asia. But just about the time I ordered the game I saw the European day one collectors version that comes with a nice little art book all for $49.99 at Amazon. I figured I could one day recover the $10 if I ever sold it and I would get nothing back from a digital copy.
So Amazon can be a source for Switch Import titles at an affordable cost. I now own four European imports and I bout them all on Amazon. I know I got the best price from them from the sources I know about. But I am sure there must be other sources to import games. Join the discussion in the comments section below and let us know
