Limited Run Games is a publisher and distributor of strictly limited games. Recently they began publishing Nintendo Switch Games. They focus on bringing games only available in a digital format and producing them as physical media. They claim to be "game collectors" and "players" who fear the all-digital future.
So is Limited Run games for collectors?
Limited run games promises that all their games are limited and that once a title is sold out they will not produce more. They also identify their collection by numbering each release and identifying them with a stamp on their back cover.
I recently purchased 8 of the games they published and I was happy that they all came with some kind of booklet or instruction manual. Most were created with great care and contained great artwork for the game they came with. I had to order pre-order them on a specific day and I waited weeks to months for each of the titles. As a collector I don't mind waiting if I know they will get the best copy of the game onto the Game Card.
Three of my purchases (Mercenary Kings, Night Trap and Kingdom New Lands) had reversible covers that can help your games be more unique or allow you to choose the cover you prefer. You can see the Reversible covers in the article Games With Reversible Covers.
They also offer collectors or classic editions for those of you like like even more goodies. Collections editions have contained things like posters, action figures, plush, puzzles, pins, CDs, Retro non-functioning cartridges and more!!! Each one of these is unique and contains items that relate to the game and are perfect for those who want an ultimate collection. And why not add collectables because we know Collectables Make Physical Editions More Fun!
Six of the of the games I purchased received an "A" Legacy Score Rating. This means that 75% of my Limited Run Purchases were well above the average for the industry where I only have about 4% of my purchases receiving an A rating and that 4% includes my limited Run purchases. My two remaining copies still received respectable "B" and "C" scores (Night Trap and Mercenary Kings).

So you can see Limited run has published games that can stand the test of time and work in your switch now and into the future. For those of us that like physical copies they produced games that are unique with reversible covers, manual, artwork and most of all a great Legacy Scores so you can be sure your game can be played by your Nintendo switch even if you can't download the updates. They also offer classic and collectors editions for those of you that want even more.
So from my experience as a collector I would say Limited Run Games is for collectors and they produce a product that collectors will like. They even throw in extra collectable card into every order. You can see here for a master list of these collectable cards. But you need to be quick to snag one of these gems as Limited Run Games only offers new games on certain days a year. The best thing to do is to subscribe to their news letter and get notified about upcoming titles.
